What you will do

• Lead and grow the Maps & Search team, overseeing hiring, onboarding, coaching, and career development.
• Own the architecture, relevance, and reliability of a search system handling ~1B monthly requests and millions of listings.
• Stay hands-on by contributing to code and design reviews, architecture, and complex debugging.
• Drive AI-powered discovery by partnering across teams to integrate LLMs and intelligent ranking into user workflows.
• Collaborate with product and design to translate business goals into a technical roadmap and own end-to-end delivery.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineering teams.
• Proven experience with search, relevance, ranking, or retrieval systems.
• Full-stack fluency in TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
• Deep expertise in AWS, microservices, GraphQL, Kafka, and PostgreSQL/OpenSearch.
• Track record of operating high-traffic, low-latency production systems (SLOs, capacity planning).
• Must be based in the United States
