TL;DR

Infrastructure Engineering Specialist (Cybersecurity): Operating and maintaining large-scale big data platforms including Hadoop, Ceph, and OpenSearch with an accent on platform reliability and 24/7 operational support. Focus on hardware lifecycle management, optimizing cluster performance, and developing custom monitoring scripts for critical national infrastructure.

Location: Onsite 5 days a week in London or Ipswich, UK. DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance is mandatory.

What you will do

• Provide 24/7 platform support, including creating custom monitoring tests and scripts.
• Manage relationships with internal and external monitoring teams and track platform performance.
• Design and deliver training and onboarding for platform support staff.
• Coordinate outages and service upgrades with stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption.
• Manage the full asset lifecycle from procurement to decommissioning and destruction.
• Deliver site expansion by building hardware and software stacks according to evolving designs.

Requirements

• Must be able to undergo and hold DV (Developed Vetting) Security Clearance.
• Must be available for a 24/7 on-call rota (1 week in 4).
• Experience with Linux Administration (specifically Rocky Linux) and server hardware management.
• Proficiency with Proxmox (HA and Ceph stores), Spark, Ceph, and HDFS.
• Experience in managing OpenSearch and Elasticsearch clusters.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with stakeholders up to CTO level.

Nice to have

• Network design experience with Cisco ASA/FTD and Dell OS10/SONIC.
• Administration of Check MK (Nagios), Nagvis, and BI development.
• Windows Domain Administration (Server 2022+).
• Experience with MariaDB multi-site replication.
• Knowledge of hardware/software data boundary enforcement (diodes) and CI/CD automated testing (Cypress, pytest).
