What you will do

• Lead, hire, and mentor the Maps & Search team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
• Stay hands-on with architecture, design reviews, and complex debugging to ensure technical excellence.
• Scale a high-throughput search platform handling over a billion requests monthly.
• Drive the roadmap for home discovery experiences across web and mobile platforms.
• Integrate LLMs and intelligent ranking into search workflows to improve listing discovery.
• Partner with product and design to translate business goals into clear technical plans and reliable delivery.

Requirements

• Must be based in Canada
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with senior or staff-level background.
• 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
• Proven experience with search, relevance, ranking, or retrieval systems.
• Experience operating high-traffic, low-latency production systems at scale.
• Strong understanding of microservice architectures, GraphQL, Kafka, and PostgreSQL.
