What you will do

• Design, architect, and ship custom AI-powered internal platforms for operational needs across People Operations, Customer Support, Sales, Recruiting, Marketing, Finance, and Executive Operations.
• Translate ambiguous, often non-technical business requirements into technical specifications, system architectures, and shipped software products.
• Own platform development end-to-end, including frontend interfaces, backend services, data models, third-party integrations, and AI model orchestration.
• Architect multi-stage AI pipelines using large language models, including prompt engineering, tool-call architecture, structured output, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic workflows.
• Build evaluation frameworks for AI features (test datasets, scoring rubrics, regression tests) and optimize AI systems for cost and performance.
• Operate shipped platforms in production with observability, error handling, security updates, and incident response; document decisions and onboard future team members.

Requirements

• Based in Foster City, California, with secondary work at the company’s San Francisco, California office; hybrid schedule requires in-office presence Monday/Wednesday/Friday in Foster City and Tuesday/Thursday in San Francisco.
• Demonstrated portfolio of shipped software products, including AI-powered applications, with the ability to discuss architecture, design trade-offs, and engineering decisions in detail.
• Hands-on experience with large language model providers/APIs, tool-calling interfaces, and structured output mechanisms; experience designing prompt and tool-call architectures and performing model selection across providers.
• Programming proficiency in Python and TypeScript or JavaScript, plus experience with relational databases, SQL, and modern data tooling.
• Working proficiency in modern software engineering practices (version control, code review, deployment pipelines, production debugging) and ability to operate autonomously in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical work to non-technical stakeholders.
