Credit Officer - Mid Markets

Location: Hybrid, with 40% or two days per week in an office in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester, or Leeds, UK

Salary: £67,023–£74,470 per year

What you will do

• Conduct independent credit assessments covering new lending, increased facilities, term variations, restructures, and annual credit reviews.
• Analyze company information, market research, financial data, and internal or external cash flow models to identify strengths, risks, and sensitivities.
• Work with originators, relationship managers, product partners, and clients to shape structured credit proposals and balance risk with reward.
• Monitor credit exposures, identify changes in risk profiles, and communicate with senior Risk colleagues, sanctioners, and other stakeholders.
• Exercise formal delegated Credit Authority where applicable and assess transactions against Group and regulatory policy.
• Maintain accurate records for internal and external requirements, including data quality and statutory reporting.

Requirements

• Strong experience in credit risk, financial analysis, and ideally cashflow-based lending.
• Experience preparing credit papers for senior sanctioning officials.
• Strong communication, influencing, judgment, decision-making, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to challenge recommendations constructively, balance conflicting demands, and deliver to tight timescales.
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new challenges, and collaborate effectively.
• Ability to work in the required hybrid pattern from an office location in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester, or Leeds.
