Solutions Engineer (Japan)

Location: Remote in Japan; frequent travel of 30% or more is required, including short-notice onsite customer meetings.

What you will do

• Manage technical aspects of the sales journey, including product demonstrations, proofs of concept, and feature requests.
• Respond to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs and support account teams in achieving booking objectives.
• Work with marketing to expand technical product collateral and support sales opportunities.
• Collect customer requirements and communicate product feedback to product management.
• Partner with Customer Success on post-sales engineering check-ins, roadmap discussions, and customer integrations.
• Attend trade shows, conferences, and meetups while supporting current and prospective customers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in high-tech sales engineering, solutions engineering, systems engineering, or network engineering.
• Must be located in Japan.
• Fluent Japanese and English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to conduct technical discussions with staff-level engineers, architects, and senior executives.
• Experience managing Cisco or Juniper routers and Linux servers.
• Strong understanding of NetFlow, SNMP, BGP, DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, infrastructure design, operations, DDoS attacks, and basic mitigation methods.

Nice to have

• Experience selling to network and systems engineers or architects at Tier 1 and Tier 2 carrier networks.
• Background in security, performance, monitoring, or infrastructure.
• Scripting experience with Python, Bash, Ansible, or Perl.
• Basic database or SQL experience and familiarity with LibreNMS, Elastic, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure architectures and early-stage sales teams at hyper-growth startups.
