TL;DR
Software Engineer I (Embedded C++): Designing and developing embedded software for Optical Layer networking solutions with an accent on production-grade firmware and device driver development. Focus on integrating C/C++ code with Linux and RTOS, performing board bring-up, and ensuring system reliability for next-generation optical networks.
Location: Hybrid (Norcross, GA, USA). Must be authorized to work in the United States. In-office Tuesday through Thursday; remote Monday and Friday.

What you will do
- Design and integrate modern C/C++ embedded software running on Linux and RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS).
- Develop and maintain device drivers for fiber-optic components including EDFA, Raman, OTDR, OCM, and WSS.
- Manage the full software development lifecycle from requirements and architecture through implementation and deployment.
- Collaborate with hardware teams on schematic reviews, hardware design input, and board bring-up.
- Develop unit tests, automation scripts, and test frameworks to validate firmware functionality.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in embedded software or firmware development, preferably in telecommunications.
- Strong proficiency in modern C/C++ and adherence to coding standards.
- Experience with RTOS, low-level debugging, and ARM or other microcontroller architectures.
- Understanding of embedded communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART) and device driver development.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Nice to have
- Experience developing device drivers for ASICs or FPGAs.
- Hands-on experience with CMake and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Ruby, or Perl.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for embedded platforms.
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and diagnostic tools for system validation.
