Staff Backend Engineer (Java)

Location: Lausanne, Switzerland; hybrid work model balancing office and remote work, with structured office onboarding for new hires. A relocation package is available for people coming from another country.

What you will do

• Implement, test, deliver, and streamline the data platform while accelerating data onboarding.
• Design, build, and deliver resilient, scalable distributed services processing billions of events.
• Collaborate with Product Management, architects, and Engineering stakeholders on scalable solutions and product quality.
• Contribute to the technology roadmap and promote improvements in security, performance, reliability, and team efficiency.
• Ship complex features and improvements and handle L3 support requests.
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies and iterative delivery.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a Java developer in SaaS projects.
• Strong experience with microservices frameworks.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud provider.
• Familiarity with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Professional-level spoken and written English required.
• Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and self-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Micronaut or Spring.
• Expertise with Kafka and other messaging systems.
• Knowledge of streaming services and distributed caching.
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
