Property Risk & Coverage Lawyer

Location: Hybrid, with a minimum of one day per week in the office. Primary locations are Bolton or Bristol, UK.

Keoghs provides legal and claims solutions to insurers, businesses, and other suppliers to the insurance sector, handling large volumes of complex claims and developing technology-enabled insurance services.

What you will do

• Independently manage property insurance claims and litigation matters from start to finish.
• Support lead lawyers on high-value and complex cases, including claims exceeding £1 million.
• Review documents, prepare client advice, and draft bespoke coverage opinions, court applications, and proceedings.
• Analyse coverage, liability, quantum, causation, breach of contract, negligence, nuisance, and case strategy.
• Conduct investigations, legal research, document searches, and prepare instructions for counsel and experts.
• Attend client meetings and strategy discussions, negotiate settlements and ADR, and deliver technical seminars for insurer clients.

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor or FILEX.
• Previous defendant property insurance claims experience.
• Thorough understanding of disputes and claims handled by the department and insurer clients.
• Experience with insurance coverage disputes, legal liability, causation, breach of contract, negligence, and nuisance.
• Strong prioritisation, attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Comfort working with case management systems and complying with SRA Standards & Regulations.
