Design Release Engineer (Automotive)

Design Release Engineer (Automotive): Leading the design, development, and validation of hydraulic controls hardware for transmission systems with an accent on continuous improvement, quality initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration. Focus on managing technical specifications, coordinating prototype manufacturing, and resolving complex product issues using DFMEA and GD&T standards.

Location: Must be based in or able to report to the office in Warren, Michigan (Hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote)

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, validation, and release of transmission hydraulic controls hardware.
• Implement continuous improvement projects focusing on warranty reduction, cost efficiency, and quality.
• Manage product issue investigations and process improvements using the Problem Resolution Tracking System (PRTS).
• Coordinate on-time prototype component manufacturing and delivery for assembly plants.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including suppliers, purchasing, and manufacturing.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required (15% of the time).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 7 years of experience, or Master's degree with 5 years of experience.
• Must be able to report to the local office in Warren, Michigan.
• Five years of experience with DFMEA, GD&T, and Stack-Ups.
• Proven experience in manufacturing, validation, and VDDV.
• Proficiency in Unigraphics and Catia design software.
• Experience in writing specifications, managing suppliers, and project management.
