Physical Design Intern (Semiconductor)

TL;DR

Physical Design Intern (Semiconductor): Assisting in the RTL-to-GDSII flow to transform circuit designs into physical layouts with an accent on floorplanning, placement, and routing. Focus on physical verification, timing analysis, and automation using scripting languages.

Location: Hybrid (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam). Must be able to work onsite 4 days per week.

What you will do

• Assist in floorplanning, block-level placement, and routing to meet power, performance, and area (PPA) goals.
• Run Design Rule Checks (DRC) and Layout Versus Schematic (LVS) verifications to ensure foundry manufacturing requirements are met.
• Analyze cross-talk, noise, IR drop, and assist in sub-system level static timing analysis (STA).
• Write and debug scripts using Python, Tcl, and Perl to automate data analysis and streamline the design flow.

Requirements

• Third-year or Final-year student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, VLSI Systems, Physics, or Maths.
• Ability to work onsite 4 days per week in Ho Chi Minh City.
• Commitment to at least a 6-month internship program.
• Fundamental understanding of semiconductor device physics, analog circuit theory, or digital VLSI design concepts.
• Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX operating systems and basic programming skills.
• English: Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Nice to have

• Exposure to industry EDA tools such as Cadence Innovus/Virtuoso, Synopsys ICCII/Fusion, or Calibre.
