What you will do

• Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise applications.
• Create normalized OLTP database schemas for Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments.
• Develop dimensional data models for BigQuery and GCP, including star schemas and slowly changing dimensions (SCD).
• Design scalable event schemas for Apache Kafka using Avro or Protobuf.
• Optimize database performance through indexing strategies, query tuning, and schema optimization.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to development and engineering teams.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of experience in Data Modeling, Database Design, or Data Architecture.
• Production experience designing normalized OLTP schemas using Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise data modeling tools such as erwin, ER/Studio, or SQLDBM.
• Experience designing streaming event schemas for Apache Kafka with Schema Registry.
• Expertise in SQL development and performance tuning (T-SQL, PL/pgSQL, BigQuery Standard SQL).
• Must be able to work in a hybrid arrangement in Hampton Roads, VA
