Programme Officer (Digital Education)

TL;DR

Programme Officer (Digital Education) (EdTech): Supporting the implementation of digital education and school connectivity strategies in Brazil with an accent on advocacy, Giga pillar implementation, and pedagogical resource integration. Focus on coordinating with national governments, designing digital skills projects, and ensuring equitable technology access for vulnerable populations.

Location: Brasilia, Brazil. Must have existing work authorization for Brazil (visa and work permit will not be provided)

What you will do

• Lead advocacy efforts and implement school connectivity initiatives across Giga’s pillars: data/mapping, financing, and connectivity.
• Design digital skills projects tailored for education managers, teachers, and students to improve learning quality.
• Promote the pedagogical use of digital resources with a focus on equity and inclusion.
• Coordinate and provide technical support to federal and subnational governments, including the Ministry of Education and Anatel.
• Oversee the design and quality monitoring of digital education initiatives to ensure alignment with national outcomes.
• Supervise implementing partners and maintain coordination with key stakeholders and regional offices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Technology, Public Administration, Management, Law, or related fields.
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience in project management of digital education programs in public schools.
• Experience developing programs for vulnerable populations, including Indigenous and quilombola communities.
• Proven experience engaging with government entities, telecommunications regulators, and international organizations.
• Experience working with technical teams on telecommunications infrastructure or network engineering solutions.
• Proficiency/Fluency in both Portuguese and English is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
• Relevant experience in development, fragile settings, or humanitarian contexts.
