TL;DR

Electrical Engineer (Assembly & Production): Supporting the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of a linear induction accelerator for subcritical experiments with an accent on electrical distribution, control, and diagnostic systems. Focus on ensuring compliance with NEC and UL standards while coordinating with multi-lab teams and vendors in high-voltage environments.

Location: Must be based on-site at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS)

Salary: $120,000 - $170,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Develop electrical distribution, control, and diagnostic systems for accelerator projects.
  • Create and review schematics, block diagrams, and wiring/cable drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Troubleshoot and test electrical systems using general test equipment like oscilloscopes and signal generators.
  • Support the full lifecycle of procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate effectively with vendors and technical leads to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Ensure all designs strictly adhere to NEC and UL standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a degree in Engineering plus 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q security clearance.
  • Proven experience with power distribution, instrumentation, and controls in industrial settings.
  • Strong proficiency in electrical testing and engineering project workflows.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Masters degree in Engineering.
  • Prior experience with linear induction accelerators or high-radiation environments.
  • Previous work experience at NNSA-designated laboratories.
