Lead, Frontier Red Team (Cybersecurity): Leading research and deploying defenses to protect the world from advanced AI-driven cybersecurity threats with an accent on offensive and defensive capability analysis. Focus on building frameworks for autonomous vulnerability patching, running purple-team simulations, and informing global AI safety policies.

Location: Hybrid (San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY). Staff are expected to be in the office at least 25% of the time.

Salary: $485,000 - $690,000 USD

What you will do

• Oversee Anthropic’s overall defensive cybersecurity vision and mission-driven research.
• Hire and lead a world-class research team of cybersecurity experts and program managers.
• Design and execute an AGI cybersecurity research program aimed at securing the global landscape.
• Collaborate with Training, Safeguards, and Policy teams to address critical AI security challenges.
• Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with governments, researchers, and industry maintainers.
• Translate technical findings into compelling demonstrations and artifacts for policymakers and the public.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Extensive professional experience in cybersecurity corresponding to a lead-level position.
• Must be based in or able to work from San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY.
• Exceptional communication skills to engage with the company, industry, and government.
• Ability to lead high-impact research on extremely quick timelines.
