TL;DR

Payments Operations Specialist (Payments Operations): Support payment processing, customer verification (KYC), reconciliations, and compliance reviews across the payment lifecycle with an accent on ACH/NACHA operations, payment exception investigations, and fraud/risk controls. Focus on driving accurate operational controls, resolving payment-related issues (refunds, chargebacks, disputes), and improving efficiency through root-cause analysis.

What you will do

• Review and verify customer payment transactions, including KYC and identity validation.
• Support ACH/NACHA payment processing activities, including file reviews, payment tracking, and reconciliations.
• Investigate payment exceptions, discrepancies, refund requests, chargebacks, and other transaction-related issues.
• Apply payment policies, operational procedures, and compliance controls consistently.
• Support fraud prevention, sanctions screening, dispute management, and regulatory compliance processes.
• Identify process improvements, operational risks, and control gaps to improve efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience.

Requirements

• Location: Remote/Hybrid with presence in Chicago, IL or Austin, TX (2 days)
• 2+ years of experience in payments operations, financial services operations, payment processing, risk operations, fraud prevention, compliance, KYC, trust & safety, or related operational functions.
• Experience investigating payment-related issues and performing root-cause analysis.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to handle sensitive information professionally.
