Satellite Flight Software Engineer II (Embedded/Aerospace): Designing and verifying applications for the TeraWave satellite flight software subsystem with an accent on robust, scalable onboard systems for a 5,408-vehicle constellation. Location: Greater Seattle Area. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee.
Salary: $134,961 – $188,945 (WA range)

What you will do
- Design and implement flight software for satellite bus subsystems including thermal control, power management, and propulsion.
- Develop closed-loop control algorithms supporting thermal regulation and power distribution.
- Create and maintain software interfaces between spacecraft subsystems to ensure safe integrated operations.
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and autonomy engineers to define requirements and behavioral boundaries.
- Integrate simulation environments for software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
- Mentor junior engineers and support on-orbit troubleshooting of deployed spacecraft.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of experience in spacecraft flight software or embedded software development.
- Strong programming proficiency in C, C++, and Python.
- Experience with RTOS such as Linux, QNX, VxWorks, or RTEMS.
- Experience with embedded build systems (CMake, Make, Yocto, Buildroot) and configuration management (Git).
- Must meet US export control regulations (US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Refugee/Asylum status).
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- Experience with over-the-air (OTA) software updates or on-orbit operations.
- Familiarity with NASA cFS, F Prime, or spacecraft FDIR and autonomy components.
- Understanding of radiation effects on electronics and software-based mitigation.
