Senior Legal Counsel - Product & Privacy (AI)

Location: Sydney, Australia (Hybrid). Must be based in Sydney

What you will do

• Advise on legal issues including privacy, data protection, IP, and AI regulation.
• Partner with stakeholders on product development for agentic and generative AI.
• Develop and operationalize company-wide AI policies and legal frameworks.
• Draft legal playbooks and guidance for AI technologies.
• Coordinate responses to privacy or data security incidents.
• Monitor global AI and privacy regulatory trends.

Requirements

• Legally qualified with a practising certificate (AUS/NZ, UK, EU, or US).
• 10+ years of legal practice, including in-house experience at a tech company.
• Expertise in global digital laws (GDPR, EU AI Act, DSA, etc.).
• Deep understanding of generative and agentic AI technologies.
• Must be based in Sydney, Australia
• Ability to collaborate across multiple time zones.

Nice to have

• CIPP or AI Governance Professional certifications.
• Experience advising rapidly growing tech companies on privacy.
