TL;DR

What you will do
- Advise on legal issues regarding online content, product safety (including youth and AI), privacy, and AI regulation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on product development, go-to-market strategy, and risk mitigation for Generative AI products.
- Develop and operationalize company-wide safety policies, regulatory monitoring, and risk assessment frameworks.
- Draft legal playbooks and internal guidance to enable scalable and effective legal reviews for new product launches.
- Coordinate the response to safety, privacy, or data security incidents, including investigations and notifications.
- Drive compliance projects based on impact mapping of incoming global AI, safety, and privacy regulations.
Requirements
- Legally qualified with an AU/NZ practising certificate.
- 8+ years of legal practice, including experience in an in-house environment.
- Expertise in online safety laws (e.g., UK and AU Online Safety Acts), GDPR, and the Digital Services Act.
- Deep understanding of modern AI technology and generative AI products.
- Must be based in Sydney, Australia.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with global team members across different time zones.
Nice to have
- AIGP, CIPP/E or similar certifications (willingness to obtain one within 6 months is required).
- Hands-on experience advising rapidly growing tech companies on privacy and regulatory requirements.
- High level of comfort with technology and AI experimentation.
