What you will do

• Lead the full lifecycle of complex backend projects from requirements gathering through design and implementation.
• Design and optimize highly scalable data models and queries using MySQL and BigQuery.
• Develop robust business logic and API endpoints using Python and Flask, and build high-performance services in Go.
• Collaborate with product management and UX design to align planned work across the Cortex platform.
• Mentor and empower engineers across the department to foster a culture of technical excellence.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks to ensure high-quality delivery of security products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 14+ years of professional software engineering experience focusing on distributed, cloud-native applications.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, Go, or Java.
• Extensive experience with REST APIs, databases, serverless computing, and microservices architectures.
• Proven track record as a hands-on technical lead or architect on large-scale complex software projects.
• Must be based in or able to work from the San Francisco office full-time.

Nice to have

• 8+ years of experience with ElasticSearch, Google Pub/Sub, or similar cloud technologies.
• Deep knowledge of public cloud design, global network infrastructure, and load balancing.
• Experience delivering full-stack products at scale within an agile environment.
