Sr. Engineer - Risk Platform (Cybersecurity)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid work with 2–3 days per week in the office

Base salary: $140,000–$215,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect and develop scalable backend services for internal and customer-facing applications.
• Build command-line utilities, APIs, databases, real-time data pipelines, and monitoring systems.
• Develop risk intelligence capabilities for risk compounding, attack path analysis, posture scoring, and remediation automation.
• Collaborate with UX/UI, Sensors, and other teams to deliver integrated solutions and documentation.
• Configure monitoring and alerting, maintain high availability, and respond proactively to incidents.
• Drive architectural improvements, optimize performance, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to technical decisions.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of production experience building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems processing high-volume data.
• Advanced programming skills in strongly typed object-oriented languages, especially Golang and Python.
• Experience designing microservices, scalable REST APIs, distributed communication patterns, and resilient architectures.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP infrastructure, plus distributed systems concepts such as concurrency, sharding, eventual consistency, and caching.
• Experience with Kafka, SQL/RDBMS systems such as PostgreSQL, and distributed caching solutions such as Redis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent professional experience, with strong algorithms, data structures, testing, troubleshooting, and system design skills.

Nice to have

• Machine learning or AI implementation experience.
• Elasticsearch, Cassandra/CQL, or graph database experience.
• Cybersecurity industry experience or relevant certifications.
• Docker, Kubernetes, open-source contributions, or technical community involvement.
