What you will do

• Design, build, and operate distributed backend services and APIs supporting high-volume customer interactions.
• Take end-to-end ownership of platform work, from framing ambiguous problems to implementation and production support.
• Optimize reliability, scalability, latency, and cost across shared platform systems.
• Collaborate with Product and SRE teams to deliver platform improvements without destabilizing live traffic.
• Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• 5-7+ years of experience building production backend services and APIs.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and/or Go.
• Expertise in distributed systems and cloud-native development using AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Proven production ownership, including monitoring and on-call experience for high-scale services.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/Aurora, Redis, and RabbitMQ.
• Must be based in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with Redshift, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, S3, or Kinesis.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, specifically Terraform.
• Strong habits in observability (metrics, logs, and traces).
• Experience scaling or migrating databases (read replicas, cluster mode, engine migrations).
