Junior Orbital Analyst (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Analyze and interpret orbital data from ground- and space-based sensors.
• Apply orbit determination techniques to track and predict space object behavior.
• Support the 19 SDS conjunction assessment mission and resolve operational anomalies.
• Develop and maintain software tools and scripts for data processing automation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and government operators.
• Document mission processes and contribute to the refinement of analytical procedures.

Requirements

• US Citizenship required.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree in Astrodynamics, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Foundational understanding of orbital mechanics and orbit determination.
• Basic proficiency in a scripting language such as Python, Perl, or shell.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proficiency in MS Office.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
• Familiarity with conjunction assessment concepts and probability of collision.
• Experience with the Astrodynamics Support Workstation (ASW) or similar mission software.
• Proficiency with Python numerical libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy).
• Experience with Linux-based operating systems.
