TL;DR

National Security Space (NSS) Orbital Analyst (Aerospace): Performing high-accuracy orbital analysis and conjunction assessment for national security space assets with an accent on orbit determination, satellite collision avoidance, and real-time problem solving. Location: On-site at Schriever Space Force Base, CO (Classified facility)

Salary: $120,000 – $155,000

What you will do

  • Solve operational orbital mechanics problems and process orbit states for the NSDC Protect and Defend mission.
  • Perform conjunction assessment, proximity operations analysis, and satellite collision avoidance in defense of national space assets.
  • Evaluate space surveillance sensors and networks to characterize the space battlespace and assess threats.
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts and automation tools entirely within an isolated, air-gapped classified environment.
  • Coordinate findings across functional areas to deliver analytical products for government decision-makers.
  • Serve as a technical resource for junior analysts and support the maintenance of mission software tools.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance; must be eligible for CI polygraph access.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Space Operations.
  • 5+ years of experience in Space Situational Awareness (SSA), satellite catalog maintenance, and orbital analysis.
  • Proficiency in orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, and orbit determination/prediction methods.
  • Ability to script in Python, Perl, or shell for process automation.
  • Willingness to obtain Security+ certification (DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II).

Nice to have

  • Master's degree and 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Current CI polygraph and prior Special Access Program (SAP) access.
  • Prior experience supporting USSPACECOM, NRO, or NSDC.
  • Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and SciPy.
  • Experience with Astrodynamics Support Workstation (ASW) or Linux (Red Hat, Fedora, SUSE).
