What you will do
- Solve operational orbital mechanics problems and process orbit states for the NSDC Protect and Defend mission.
- Perform conjunction assessment, proximity operations analysis, and satellite collision avoidance in defense of national space assets.
- Evaluate space surveillance sensors and networks to characterize the space battlespace and assess threats.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts and automation tools entirely within an isolated, air-gapped classified environment.
- Coordinate findings across functional areas to deliver analytical products for government decision-makers.
- Serve as a technical resource for junior analysts and support the maintenance of mission software tools.
Requirements
- US Citizenship required.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance; must be eligible for CI polygraph access.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Space Operations.
- 5+ years of experience in Space Situational Awareness (SSA), satellite catalog maintenance, and orbital analysis.
- Proficiency in orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, and orbit determination/prediction methods.
- Ability to script in Python, Perl, or shell for process automation.
- Willingness to obtain Security+ certification (DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II).
Nice to have
- Master's degree and 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Current CI polygraph and prior Special Access Program (SAP) access.
- Prior experience supporting USSPACECOM, NRO, or NSDC.
- Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and SciPy.
- Experience with Astrodynamics Support Workstation (ASW) or Linux (Red Hat, Fedora, SUSE).
