What you will do

• Develop machine learning methods for lab-in-the-loop protein optimization and multi-objective design strategies.
• Shape data-generation strategies to maximize the informativeness of experimental campaigns.
• Build LLM-enabled and agentic workflows to accelerate iterative learning and hypothesis exploration.
• Design and maintain production-quality ML models and data workflows with a focus on reproducibility and efficiency.
• Partner with engineering teams to integrate ML components into scalable platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with protein designers and wet-lab scientists to ground models in experimental reality.

Requirements

• PhD in machine learning, computational biology, computer science, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong practical experience with probabilistic machine learning, Bayesian optimization, or active learning.
• Experience developing ML methods for biological or experimental scientific data.
• Strong Python skills and proficiency with modern frameworks like PyTorch or JAX.
• Ability to translate ML ideas into reliable systems and tools.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid capacity from the Somerville, MA office.

Nice to have

• Experience in protein design, antibody engineering, or drug development.
• Experience with transformer-based architectures or building LLM agents.
• Experience contributing to shared ML platforms, APIs, or developer tooling.
• Background in high-throughput screening or model-guided experimental campaigns.
