Power Instrumentation Engineer

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States. Onsite every day; no remote or hybrid option.

Annual salary: $122,440–$172,860 USD.

What you will do

• Measure, analyze, and debug workloads on OEM notebook and laptop systems.
• Measure SoC/CPU and platform power on a rail-by-rail basis, including system setup, calibration, and instrumentation.
• Analyze power and performance behavior and help tune future platforms.
• Investigate gaps between internal silicon/SoC data and OEM platform implementations.
• Support competitive power and performance analysis and projections.
• Educate and influence engineering, field account, and marketing teams on product positioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant experience.
• Understanding of power measurement and instrumentation methodologies.
• At least 1 year of basic soldering experience.
• For preferred candidates, 2–4 years of relevant experience and experience instrumenting phones, tablets, or laptops.
• Strong knowledge of CPU microarchitecture, including x86 or ARM.
• Experience with post-silicon engineering, benchmark analysis, accurate data interpretation, and technical communication.

Nice to have

• Expert-level microsoldering experience.
• Familiarity with SPEC, Speedometer, Cinebench, Geekbench, Procyon, MobileMark, or 3DMark.
• Experience developing customized technical content.
