Underwriter (Home Equity Investment)

Location: Fully remote; the remote-first team hires regardless of location. Availability to work until 6pm PST is strongly preferred.

Salary: $90,000–$110,000 per year

What you will do

• Own the underwriting pipeline from initial review through final approval while meeting quality standards.
• Assess applications against underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Review title reports and identify conditions needed to resolve liens, encumbrances, leases, and other title issues.
• Analyze appraisals, property condition, comparable sales, loan modifications, and lien-position impacts.
• Review trust documentation for vesting, trustee authority, and homeowner eligibility.
• Confirm that all conditions are satisfied before funding and communicate decisions clearly to processors and homeowners.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience underwriting residential real estate or home equity products.
• Experience reviewing credit reports, title reports, appraisal reports, mortgage statements, deeds of trust, loan modifications, and UCC filings.
• Strong knowledge of title curative requirements and appraisal review.
• Understanding of loan modifications and their impact on lien position, product features, and eligibility.
• Experience with loan processing or CRM systems such as Salesforce.
• Strong attention to detail, independent pipeline management, collaboration, and clear communication.

Nice to have

• Experience reviewing trusts, including trust vesting, trustee authority, and eligibility documentation.
