Product Engineer, Backend (Fintech)

TL;DR

Product Engineer, Backend (Python/Fintech): Building and evolving financial products and public APIs for major brands with an accent on data modeling, API design, and microservices architecture. Focus on developing a Bill Switch product, optimizing banking integrations, and scaling customer-facing backend services.

Location: Hybrid: 3 days a week in the New York City office. This position does not offer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary: $160,000 - $190,000 base

What you will do

• Design and ship new functionality for internal and customer-facing backend APIs.
• Develop the Bill Switch product to help users migrate subscription spend to new accounts.
• Maintain and scale a Python-based microservice stack.
• Build new integrations with banking platform partners and improve existing implementations.
• Improve the tax product and customer dashboard APIs.
• Mentor engineers and establish team engineering standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development, specifically with data modeling and API design.
• Deep expertise in modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, Rails, or Gin.
• Working experience with modern frontend web frameworks like React or Vue.
• Prior experience working at an early-stage startup or small tech company.
• Must be based in or able to work from New York, NY (3 days/week in office).
• Must have permanent US work authorization; no visa sponsorship is available.
