Senior Staff Data Engineer (Fintech)

Location: United States; remote-first. Office spaces are available in San Jose, California, and Draper, Utah, with opportunities for in-person collaboration.

Estimated annual salary: $195,800–$244,800 in Zone 1; $176,200–$220,300 in Zone 2; $166,400–$208,100 in Zone 3.

What you will do

• Drive platform-wide architectural decisions and define technical direction for complex data infrastructure problems.
• Own the full data lifecycle across ingestion, data lake storage, enrichment, querying, feature serving, knowledge graphs, and search.
• Design and deliver new platform capabilities from inception through general availability, including reference implementations, SLAs, and ownership models.
• Lead enterprise-scale migrations, including compute upgrades, warehouse-to-lake migrations, and infrastructure modernization.
• Partner with ML/AI, Risk, Payments, and Analytics teams to build durable, self-service platform solutions.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers while improving reliability, cost efficiency, engineering standards, and developer experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, distributed systems, or software engineering focused on data infrastructure.
• 5+ years working on data platform, data infrastructure, or data systems teams.
• Expertise in streaming, batch processing, real-time serving, distributed systems design, and CDC-based ingestion.
• Hands-on experience with event streaming and batch technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming, Airflow, dbt, Spark, or Glue.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, experience with data lakes and open table formats, and a track record operating production-grade data platforms.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of experience in financial services, fintech, or SaaS.
• Experience building self-service data platforms or developer-facing infrastructure tooling.
• Experience with fintech, financial data, or highly regulated data environments.
