Chief RF Engineer (Space Radar)

TL;DR

Chief RF Engineer (Space Radar): Designing and leading the technical development of next-generation space radar systems with an accent on RF system architecture and program delivery. Focus on phased array decisions, link budgets, and shipping fielded hardware for funded programs.

Location: On-site in Boston, Massachusetts. Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or green card holder) for ITAR compliance.

Salary: $180,000 – $200,000 base + equity

What you will do

• Own end-to-end RF system architecture, including link/radar budgets, waveform decisions, and phased array performance.
• Lead technical programs to cost and schedule, managing technical risks and overseeing subcontractors and vendors.
• Shape technical requirements and engage directly with customers upstream of the specification.
• Mentor the RF and hardware engineering team while establishing technical standards and review practices.

Requirements

• Principal or architect level expertise in radar systems (ground, airborne, naval, or spaceborne).
• Experience architecting a full radar or RF hardware program (e.g., SAR, AESA, phased arrays, or EW payloads).
• Proven track record of shipping fielded hardware beyond the study phase.
• Strong command of RF fundamentals and system-level trade-off thinking under program constraints.
• U.S. person (citizen or green card holder) and clearable for a U.S. security clearance.

Nice to have

• Active U.S. security clearance (Secret, TS, or TS/SCI).
• Experience with government and defense customers such as SDA, SSC, DARPA, AFRL, or NRO.
• Experience with smallsat power, mass, and schedule constraints.
