Salary: $190K – $280K + Equity

What you will do

• Serve as embedded counsel for product and engineering, reviewing features, flows, and launches at a high shipping pace.
• Advise on generative AI and synthetic media challenges, including right of publicity, IP, copyright, and content provenance.
• Own consumer-facing legal surfaces such as Terms of Service, privacy policies, and app store compliance.
• Counsel marketing and growth teams on claims, endorsements, and promotions.
• Build lightweight legal processes and escalation paths that enable organizational speed.
• Triage broader company legal needs across commercial, corporate, and employment areas with outside counsel.

Requirements

• 5+ years of legal experience, including substantial product counsel work at a consumer technology company.
• J.D. and active membership in good standing in at least one state bar with ability to practice in-house in New York.
• Fluency in the legal landscape of consumer software, including GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, IP, and consumer protection.
• Practical, business-first judgment with the ability to provide concise, workable paths forward.
• Comfortable operating as the sole lawyer in the room within a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with generative AI, synthetic media, or similar frontier technologies.
• Proven track record of managing outside counsel relationships and legal spend.
• Experience as an early legal hire at a startup.
