Senior Product Development Engineer (Data Center)

Location: Willimantic, CT or Lincoln, RI, United States. Onsite 5 days per week with 20–30% travel to customer sites, conferences, and internal locations.

What you will do

• Represent hirify.global at data center conferences, shows, and industry events.
• Engage with customers and suppliers to gather market information, understand requirements, and influence market decisions.
• Participate in UL, CSA, IEC, NEC, and customer cable specification committees.
• Connect data center market demand with product capabilities and define new product opportunities.
• Lead new product development from concept and design through trials, qualification, launch, and ongoing performance and cost improvement.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams across multiple sites while responding to changing market needs.

Requirements

• Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering.
• At least 5 years of product development engineering experience, including leading or contributing to technical product development projects involving complex engineered products with strict performance requirements.
• Direct wire and cable industry experience, including cable constructions, materials, standards, manufacturing processes, industry terminology, and product lifecycles.
• Hands-on data center experience involving products, applications, or customer requirements and an understanding of cable solutions for data center infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of UL, CSA, and NEC standards, testing requirements, and certification processes relevant to wire and cable products.
• Experience with cable specifications, including interpreting, applying, and developing performance criteria, material, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams, customers, suppliers, and standards committees as an individual contributor and guide complex decisions.
• Ability to work onsite 5 days per week.
• Ability to travel 20–30%.

Nice to have

• 5–10 years of product development engineering experience, ideally in a technical or industrial environment.
• Data center product experience from a cable or wire perspective, including designing, developing, or supporting cable products for data center applications.
• Leadership experience, including leading projects, mentoring engineers, and influencing cross-functional teams.
• Experience attending data center shows and conducting market-facing customer discussions.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Proactive and self-directed approach, with the ability to identify actionable items and move work forward independently.
• Experience representing technical products externally.
