What you will do

• Drive the technical direction and architecture decisions for the data platform in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4–5 engineers, fostering a product-minded culture.
• Own and evolve critical infrastructure, including the data lake, semantic layer, and data governance.
• Lead the adoption of streaming technologies across the organization.
• Advance data modeling practices and drive the shift toward distributed data ownership.
• Negotiate roadmaps and prioritize technical sequencing with product teams.

Requirements

• Proven experience at Staff Engineer level or equivalent within a data engineering context.
• Strong architectural expertise in data lakes, foundations, governance, and orchestration.
• Hands-on experience with streaming technologies like Kafka.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with modern data stacks.
• Ability to manage stakeholders and negotiate complex roadmaps.
• Must be based in or able to work from Chemnitz, Berlin, or Dresden, Germany.

Nice to have

• Experience with data governance specifically for AI agents and agentic analytics.
• Prior exposure to self-service data platform models.
• Experience working in a product-led SaaS environment.
