Director, UX Design (AI)

Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Employment-based visa or work permit sponsorship is not available.

Salary: CAD $207,500–$233,500 annual base salary, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define the UX strategy and product design direction for core health data platforms.
• Influence product roadmaps, quarterly resource planning, and creative and technical priorities.
• Manage UX designers and foster a user-focused culture based on empathy, humility, and product excellence.
• Partner with engineering, product management, data science, and clinical teams to turn complex requirements into user-friendly interfaces.
• Develop and champion design systems and best practices for consistency, accessibility, and scalability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of UX design experience with complex enterprise, B2B, or platform software products.
• 5+ years of experience managing and leading design teams.
• Portfolio demonstrating UX strategy, conceptual development, and successful launches of scalable platform or enterprise products.
• Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, collaboration, systems-thinking, and strategic-direction skills.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada is required; visa or work permit sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise products, healthcare, medical services, or data-intensive technical platforms.
• Understanding of AI, machine learning, and data visualization principles.
• Experience building, maintaining, and scaling comprehensive design systems.
• Experience navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
