Location: San Jose, California, United States

Base pay: $293,900–$367,400 per year.

What you will do

  • Provide strategic and practical legal advice on global employment matters, including hiring, compensation, performance management, and wage-and-hour compliance.
  • Review and scale employment policies, handbooks, agreements, and related operational processes.
  • Develop investigation protocols and lead sensitive internal workplace investigations through resolution.
  • Lead threat assessment and mitigation strategies focused on trade secrets and intellectual property protection.
  • Support international expansion through global mobility, PEO/EOR frameworks, and cross-border compliance.
  • Advise product development, risk assessment, government contracting, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree and at least 12 years of employment law experience, preferably combining top-tier law firm and in-house experience.
  • Proven experience conducting and overseeing complex, sensitive internal investigations.
  • Deep knowledge of California employment law.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and business judgment skills.
  • Experience managing an end-to-end HR legal function in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Licensed to practice law in California or eligible to register as in-house counsel.

Nice to have

  • Experience with global expansion and cross-border employment matters.
  • Experience with trade secret litigation and government contracting.
