Salary: $191,000 – $268,500

What you will do

• Provide product-focused legal counseling across tax, money, and mid-market product lines.
• Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, and Data Science teams to embed privacy into the development lifecycle.
• Advise on privacy-by-design controls, including data minimization, purpose limitation, and customer choice.
• Support privacy requirements for tax and financial data handling, including IRC §7216 compliance.
• Counsel on customer-facing disclosures and UX patterns to mitigate dark pattern risks.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments and provide launch guidance with clear risk framing and mitigation strategies.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant legal experience in-house or at a law firm.
• JD and membership in good standing with at least one US State Bar.
• Strong working knowledge of US data privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA, GLBA).
• Proven ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable policies and frameworks.
• Ability to communicate effectively with business partners regarding regulatory obligations and risk management.
• Must be located in or willing to work from one of the specified office locations.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting tax, fintech, or lending-adjacent products.
• Familiarity with international privacy requirements (GDPR, PIPEDA).
• Knowledge of Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs).
• Background in data analytics, technology, or engineering.
• IAPP Privacy certification (CIPP or CIPT).
