Location: Mountain View, California; Atlanta, Georgia; New York, New York; Oakland, California; San Diego, California

Salary: $191,000–$268,500 base pay annually, depending on location

What you will do

  • Provide product-focused privacy counseling for consumer and business experiences across tax, money, mid-market, and hirify.global Services.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, Data Science and Analytics, Security, and Marketing from concept through launch.
  • Advise on privacy-by-design controls, data minimization, purpose limitation, transparency, customer choice, and regulated data handling.
  • Review disclosures, consent flows, preference centers, permissioning, and in-product education while reducing dark-pattern risk.
  • Conduct and document privacy impact assessments, launch guidance, risk mitigations, and decision records.
  • Support data-sharing governance and create scalable templates, playbooks, intake paths, and training for product teams.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant legal experience in-house and/or at a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of US data privacy laws, including CCPA/CPRA, state privacy laws, and GLBA.
  • Ability to advise on product design, technology initiatives, transactional matters, and data privacy issues with domestic and international counsel.
  • Ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable policies, frameworks, and guidelines.
  • JD and membership in good standing with at least one US State Bar.
  • Ability to analyze data-driven products, assess legal and privacy risks, and communicate recommendations to business partners.

Nice to have

  • Experience with tax, fintech, money movement, lending-adjacent products, or other regulated data environments.
  • Familiarity with GDPR/ePrivacy, PIPEDA, and Privacy Enhancing Technologies.
  • Background in data analytics, data science, technology, or engineering.
  • IAPP privacy certification such as CIPP or CIPT.
