Senior Software Engineer, DBaaS (US Federal)

Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; may require on-site work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Flex Work requires at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field.

Annual base salary: $137,000–$205,400 USD for the primary location; additional US locations: $123,900–$222,000 USD.

What you will do

• Architect, design, develop, and manage database-as-a-service infrastructure.
• Design and develop APIs and dashboards for database availability, scalability, performance, and KPI monitoring.
• Build observability and automated remediation capabilities for database infrastructure.
• Support large-scale database instances across production, non-production, and development environments.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and partner with service and performance teams on architecture, resiliency, and performance improvements.

Requirements

• Must be a United States citizen because the role supports US Federal Government contracts.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance; TS/SCI with CI Poly may be required.
• 6+ years of experience with Aurora MySQL, RDS MySQL, cloud-native databases, database architecture, replication, clustering, and HA/DR.
• 2+ years of backend development experience with Go, Python, or Java.
• 4+ years of AWS experience and clustered, highly available database services on Linux.
• 5+ years of experience with DevOps technologies, Kubernetes, Docker, deployment, monitoring, and scaling.

Nice to have

• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with IAT Level II certification, a current CE credential, and an approved specialty certification.
• Experience with Terraform, Chef, Ansible, Ceph, Gluster, Orchestrator for MySQL, Percona tools, Vitess, or Pure Storage.
• BS/MS degree in computer science and strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
