Lead CNC Machinist

Location: Long Beach or Torrance, California, United States. Onsite shop-floor role on a rotating 3–4 x 11 schedule, working alternating Wednesdays. Available shift: Sunday–Wednesday, 4:00 p.m.–3:30 a.m.

Salary: $52–$72 per hour, depending on evaluated level. Lead CNC Machinist / T04: $52–$62 per hour; Sr. CNC Machinist / T05: $60–$72 per hour.

What you will do

• Coordinate daily work across machining shifts, provide floor leadership, and mentor less-experienced machinists and operators.
• Set up and operate 3-axis, 3+2, and 5-axis CNC machining centers for complex prototype and production hardware.
• Apply GD&T, troubleshoot tooling, fixtures, machine limitations, and process instability, and support machine recovery.
• Develop machining strategies covering tooling, fixturing, setup methodology, programming, and additive manufacturing workflows where applicable.
• Improve cycle time, setup reduction, tooling performance, throughput, quality, and process repeatability in collaboration with engineering and management.
• Maintain setup sheets and machining records, support inspections and root-cause investigations, and champion EHS and machining safety standards.

Requirements

• Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.
• 5–8 years of CNC machining experience with strong multi-axis machining expertise.
• Advanced proficiency with Siemens and Heidenhain controllers.
• Advanced understanding of GD&T, machining process optimization, dynamic work offsets, and advanced setup methodologies.
• Experience troubleshooting complex machining processes and setups, working independently, coordinating workloads, and mentoring peers.
• Hands-on availability for a fast-paced, high-mix production environment with close collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, quality, logistics, and program teams.

Nice to have

• Experience machining additively manufactured components.
• Familiarity with gantry CNC systems and advanced machining technologies.
• Experience in rapid production or prototype manufacturing environments.
• Previous experience as a shift lead, supervisor delegate, or formal peer mentor.
