Senior CNC Machinist

What you will do

• Program, set up, and operate multi-axis CNC mills, lathes, and specialty equipment for complex prototype and low-volume components.
• Develop and optimize machining strategies, tool paths, feeds, speeds, workholding, and process documentation.
• Perform in-process precision inspections and maintain tight tolerances through process adjustments and root-cause analysis.
• Translate engineering models and drawings into manufacturable processes and provide DFM/DFX feedback to Design Engineering.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management, Sourcing, Logistics, and external suppliers to prioritize work and ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
• Help build scalable machining standards, workflows, equipment capabilities, and shop-floor practices in a growing fusion-energy startup.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years of CNC machining experience, including at least 3 years in prototype or R&D environments.
• Strong proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, hyperMILL, or NX CAM.
• Deep knowledge of stainless steels, nickel alloys, refractory metals, engineered plastics, and other energy-system materials.
• Experience with GD&T, high-precision inspection, and tight-tolerance machining.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering teams, communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, self-direct work, and manage multiple priorities under time pressure.
• Ability to work on-site in Denver, Colorado.

Nice to have

• Experience with vacuum components, high-energy systems, plasma devices, cryogenic assemblies, or other complex physics-driven systems.
• Manual machining, EDM, or additive manufacturing experience.
• Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or MES systems and shop-floor traceability.
• Experience in hardware startups, aerospace, energy, or robotics.
