Описание вакансии
TL;DR
Senior Mission Software Engineer (Python): Build and integrate concept capabilities for Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) autonomy and a mission software platform with an accent on sensor/telemetry ingestion, operator-facing workflows, and simulation-driven integration. Focus on connecting real-time data streams, developing Python adapters and tooling, and troubleshooting orchestrated multi-service deployments to deliver maintainable USV mission demos.
Location: Panama City, FL (On-site/Hybrid/Remote; remote candidates must travel frequently)
Salary: 129,737 - 155,000 USD per year
Company
is a defense technology company connecting sensing to action across the connected battlespace.
What you will do
- Deliver integrated USV concept demonstrations for mission planning, sensor integration, route execution monitoring, geofencing, vehicle status/health, and operator oversight.
- Connect UI experiences to simulation/backends so demos reflect realistic telemetry cadence, state transitions, fault conditions, and mission events.
- Develop Python utilities and lightweight services (adapters, data shaping, simulation hooks, replay tools, CLI utilities) for concept integration.
- Implement real-time interfaces (REST/WebSockets/streaming, pub/sub) to support high-rate telemetry and event-driven updates.
- Orchestrate and troubleshoot containerized deployments using Docker, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes; integrate with messaging architectures (Redis, DDS, pub/sub, streaming pipelines).
- Add pragmatic test coverage and produce runbooks for push-button demos (environment setup, data sources, simulation configuration, troubleshooting).
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent professional experience).
- 5+ years of experience with Python for services, tooling, or automation scripts.
- Familiarity with autonomy/robotics concepts (mission states, control modes, fail-safes, safety constraints).
- Exposure to maritime/USV data sources and integration concepts (GPS/IMU, AIS, radar integration, NMEA/NMEA2000).
- Experience with simulation-driven integration and replay (recorded logs, deterministic playback, scenario configuration).
- U.S. national security clearance: active clearance or ability to receive and maintain one; candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
Culture & Benefits
- Flexible work arrangements: fully on-site, hybrid, or remote with frequent travel options.
- On-site/hybrid location: Panama City, FL; remote candidates must travel frequently (monthly or quarterly) to Panama City, FL.
- Quarterly travel to various remote test locations.
- Paid Time Off and Paid Company Holidays.
- Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance; optional HSA and FSA.
- 401k matching, life insurance, disability insurance, and an Employee Assistance Program.
Hiring process
- Interviews to assess Python/services integration experience, autonomy/USV concepts, and simulation/replay workflows.
- Technical evaluation focused on real-time telemetry integration, orchestration troubleshooting, and maintainability practices.
- Clearance eligibility review based on U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. national security clearance.
