Senior Software Engineer (Platform)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Platform): Designing and evolving the developer platform to optimize engineering velocity with an accent on CI/CD pipelines, build tooling, and infrastructure orchestration. Focus on removing friction from the developer experience, managing GraphQL/gRPC ecosystems, and implementing secure IAM primitives.

Location: Hybrid in Amsterdam, Netherlands (office attendance 3 times a week)

What you will do

• Build and maintain paved paths and self-serve tooling to enhance productivity for hundreds of engineers.
• Create and support CI/CD pipelines using Buildkit and GitHub Actions, along with build tooling like Gradle, Bazel, and Cargo.
• Act as the steward of the GraphQL and gRPC ecosystem, ensuring smooth middleware, federation, and schema sharing.
• Evolve and integrate IAM solutions and primitives to ensure the platform is secure by default.
• Optimize container orchestration using Kubernetes and ECS, and maintain the observability stack with Datadog and Openmetrics.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building developer platforms or internal tooling.
• Strong full-stack instincts across backend services, frontend pipelines, Kubernetes manifests, and CI configurations.
• Hands-on expertise with CI/CD systems, container orchestrators, and multi-language build tooling.
• Strong product mindset applied to internal users, treating engineers as customers.
• Must be based in or able to work from Amsterdam, Netherlands (hybrid 3 days/week).
• Excellent communication skills for writing design docs and conducting technical interviews.

Nice to have

• Experience in data-driven DevX development using DORA metrics.
• Proficiency with AWS and Terraform.
• Experience with scaled Identity and Access Management (IAM) including JWTs and OIDC.
