Principal Software Engineer (Threat Data Platform)

Location: Santa Clara, San Francisco, or San Jose, California, United States. Most teams work from the office full time, with flexibility when needed.

Annual base salary: $156,400–$253,000, depending on qualifications, experience, and work location. Additional compensation may include restricted stock units and a bonus.

What you will do

• Develop backend features and core components from architecture and testing through deployment and maintenance.
• Design and optimize high-throughput ETL/ELT pipelines that transform complex threat data into actionable intelligence.
• Build and maintain high-performance data warehouses and scalable APIs for internal security researchers.
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders to turn complex requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead code and design reviews and contribute to architectural roadmaps and engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience building large-scale enterprise applications and high-availability data APIs.
• Professional-level Java proficiency, strong RESTful API design skills, and experience with Python for data manipulation.
• Experience with GCP or AWS managed cloud services, Linux, and shell scripting.
• Knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, time-series, and graph databases.
• Experience with Kubernetes environments and modern CI/CD workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience building analytical solutions and optimizing pipelines for machine learning or AI-driven insights.
• Experience with Pub/Sub, Kafka, Dataflow, Spark, BigQuery, or Bigtable, especially on GCP.
• Experience using graph databases for threat relationship mapping.
