TL;DR
Senior Cloud Operations Engineer, Deployments (Cloud Operations/AWS/GCP): Operating and deploying Pegasystems cloud service environments with an accent on infrastructure provisioning, upgrades, troubleshooting, and reliability. Focus on automating repetitive operational tasks, managing Kubernetes and web-server environments, performing root cause analysis, and supporting customers through rotational on-call coverage.

Location: US - Virginia - Sterling or US - Massachusetts - Waltham. The role supports a global 24x7 follow-the-sun operation with fixed shifts of 8am–4pm or 3pm–12am, assigned Monday–Friday or Tuesday–Saturday and changing quarterly. US citizenship is required for FedRAMP work.

Salary: $102,400–$153,200 annually, with possible annual bonus or commission and additional benefits.

What you will do

  • Provision new environments and upgrade infrastructure components and product applications.
  • Decommission environments and deploy system updates, patches, and hotfixes.
  • Troubleshoot customer environments, perform root cause analysis, and prevent recurring incidents.
  • Create operational runbooks and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify automation opportunities and write scripts to reduce repetitive work.
  • Monitor ticket queues and escalation channels, coordinate handoffs with global teams, and provide rotational on-call customer support.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and tuning Java applications and Apache Tomcat.
  • 5+ years of enterprise-scale Linux administration experience.
  • Operational experience with AWS and/or GCP and cloud infrastructure, platform, and application administration.
  • Experience administering Tomcat, Apache, IIS, or Nginx web servers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • US citizenship is required for FedRAMP-related work.

Nice to have

  • Experience with microservices architecture and Kubernetes.
  • Network troubleshooting skills, including TCP/IP, DNS, and VPN.
  • Bash/Shell or Python scripting experience.
  • AWS or GCP certification and Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification.
