Senior Systems Engineer (Radar)

Location: Enfield, United Kingdom; the role is based at the Enfield premises and requires business travel

What you will do

• Participate in company- and customer-funded systems projects based on solid-state radar technology.
• Work across the systems engineering lifecycle from system concept through delivery and acceptance.
• Design, integrate, and test systems across software, mechanical, and electrical engineering disciplines.
• Manage engineering risks from project conception through acceptance.
• Prepare technical proposals, specifications, reports, project plans, and work packages.
• Support customers, lead design reviews, and mentor junior colleagues across multiple projects.

Requirements

• Experience in systems design, integration, and testing, with an understanding of systems and product lifecycles.
• Knowledge of software, mechanical, and electrical engineering disciplines and engineering risk management.
• Very good written English and clear communication skills are required.
• Ability to drive and hold a UK driving licence.
• Eligibility to apply for UK Security Clearance.
• Degree-level qualification in engineering, mathematics, or physics is preferred, though equivalent experience is acceptable.

Nice to have

• Experience with radar, radio systems, navigation equipment, or naval platforms.
• Knowledge of communications protocols such as RS485, RS232, TCP/IP, and CANBus.
• Experience with external verification, test houses, and standards including MIL-STD, Def Stan, or IEC.
• Experience with electronics, circuit-level fault finding, EMC, ESD environments, test equipment, and soldering.
• Professional Engineering Institution membership and experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
