What you will do

• Design features end-to-end from research and conceptualization to shipped screens.
• Own and evolve the design system, creating new components to maintain consistency.
• Define explicit states, error paths, and content variability for unambiguous hand-off.
• Collaborate closely with platform engineers during implementation to bridge the gap between design and product.
• Conduct user research to translate scientific workflows and pain points into product features.

Requirements

• Portfolio demonstrating shipped designs and their real-world implementation.
• Experience designing complex, data-dense product surfaces.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining scalable design systems.
• Deep fluency in Figma, including auto-layout, variables, and component architecture.
• Ability to work closely with engineers and understand implementation constraints.
• Location: Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Zürich

Nice to have

• Experience designing software for scientific end-users.
• Familiarity with TypeScript, React, and CSS.
• Comfort with developer tools like Git.
• Enthusiasm for computational biology, bioinformatics, or machine learning.
