Design Release Engineer (Active Thermal Hardware)

What you will do

• Lead product development activities for thermal components and subsystems from design to release.
• Develop and release components meeting SOR, CTS, and SSTS requirements.
• Define Interface Control Document (ICD) requirements and negotiate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
• Manage supplier relationships and coordinate cross-functional activities with manufacturing, quality, and validation teams.
• Validate designs using analytical tools such as FEA, CFD, and modal analysis.
• Lead problem-solving efforts for production and launch issues to ensure compliance with GM standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Thermal Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in component or subsystem design and release.
• Strong understanding of thermal systems, HVAC, and fluid handling components.
• Proficiency in CAD (UGNX preferred), Teamcenter, and engineering analysis tools.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US without GM immigration sponsorship.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model in Warren, Michigan.

Nice to have

• Prior GM experience with thermal or HVAC components.
• Familiarity with GM tools and processes (ECM, PRTS, ICD, ECR, SOR, TWO, GVDP, GD&T).
• DFSS Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with FMEA, DRBFM, and vehicle integration.
