Field Service Engineer (Solar Inverters): Assist with warranty repairs and commission SMA utility inverters in the field with an accent on troubleshooting, analyzing inverter operation data, and maintaining O&M activities. Location: Sacramento, CA (Western region). Work authorization: must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; no visa sponsorship.
Salary: $33.00–$35.50 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications).

What you will do
- Assist with commissioning, troubleshooting, and warranty repairs of SMA utility inverters in the field via email, telephone, and site visits.
- Analyze inverter operation and data, and support learning to interpret operation and maintenance activity.
- Build detailed product knowledge of SMA utility inverter products and associated SMA/third-party accessories.
- Maintain accurate spare-parts inventory counts provided by SMA.
- Perform and/or assist with maintenance activities per SMA product maintenance manuals and customer contractual obligations.
- Support customer satisfaction while working to reduce field service costs; handle occasional nonstandard business hours and significant domestic travel (possible international travel).
Requirements
- Work authorization: must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; no H-1B/OPT/CPT/TN or other visa sponsorship.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications.
- Strongly preferred: bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent renewables-industry experience.
- Strongly preferred: prior experience in the renewable energy industry.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.
- Ability to work a nonstandard schedule as needed and travel extensively for service work.
