Safety Director

Location: Must be based in Orono, Maine, with regular travel to project sites in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Virginia, and North Carolina.

What you will do

• Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs and strategic plans.
• Partner with operations leadership to ensure safe and compliant project execution.
• Oversee regulatory compliance, including OSHA, MSHA, and FMCSR requirements.
• Manage workers' compensation claims, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Conduct jobsite safety inspections and monitor key safety metrics.
• Coordinate employee safety training, certifications, and orientation programs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; safety-related education preferred.
• Experience in heavy construction, earthwork, or related industries.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, MUTCD, and FMCSR regulations.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly to project sites throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Virginia, and North Carolina.
