Technical Marketing Engineer - Photonics

Salary: $133,000–$185,000 base salary per year, plus potential bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Define optical interconnect deployment use cases and architectures across switch and router generations.
• Develop deployment-rule tools, optical configuration tools, web-based configuration utilities, application notes, and white papers.
• Define and support technical conference demonstrations, including equipment setup, logistics, and demonstration materials.
• Write and maintain Python-based automation for test flows, lab instrument control, and test-result logging.
• Set up and execute optical and electrical tests for DWDM single- and multi-span systems using laboratory equipment.
• Analyze test data, troubleshoot failures, and collaborate with hardware, firmware, operations, sales, and systems engineering teams.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of experience with optical networking and DWDM design and deployment.
• Strong practical knowledge of Ethernet, DWDM, coherent optical technologies, and DWDM signal propagation.
• Hands-on experience with OTDRs, optical spectrum analyzers, BERTs, power meters, oscilloscopes, traffic generators, and network protocol analysis tools.
• Experience with system testing, Python or TCL scripting, new product introduction, and testing coherent and IMDD transponders/transceivers and optical system components.
• Strong writing, presentation, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• PhD in photonics and/or an MBA.
• Experience with DWDM signal simulation and multi-span amplified systems.
