TL;DR

Legal Counsel (Logistics): Providing strategic legal support for North American operations with an accent on commercial contracts, labor and employment law, and workplace safety compliance. Focus on managing M&A transactions, financing projects, and corporate governance within a high-growth, automated cold storage environment.

Location: Must be based in or able to work from Chicago, IL

Salary: $145,000 - $165,000

What you will do

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to North American leadership on diverse legal matters.
• Partner with HR on labor and employment issues, including compliance, investigations, and policy modernization.
• Lead legal strategy for workplace safety, including OSHA compliance and incident response.
• Draft and negotiate a broad portfolio of commercial agreements, including logistics, vendor, and SaaS contracts.
• Support corporate M&A transactions from due diligence through closing and integration.
• Provide legal support for financing activities, including construction loans and economic incentives.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Illinois.
• 5-7 years of post-JD legal experience, with a mix of in-house and law firm backgrounds.
• Hands-on experience advising on labor and employment issues.
• Exposure to workplace safety and OSHA compliance.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
